Ginette Fortin | Vice President – Insurance

Function

As the Vice-President of Insurance, Ginette Fortin is responsible for the technical aspects of underwriting policies and claims, as well as business insurance development. She oversees three departments that support this role, which consists of developing standards and procedures, developing products, designing training activities and controlling the quality and compliance of insurance operations.

Career

In addition to holding three bachelor's degrees and a master's in law, Ms. Fortin holds a number of titles in insurance, and financial management and services, including Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification, Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and financial planner. With over 30 years experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, Ms. Fortin has been with SSQauto since 2007. Previously she was a member of management of a large Canadian insurer and an insurance broker at the beginning of her career.

Extracurricular

Ms. Fortin is a member of the automobile insurance standards and practices committee of the Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA), the Insurance Bureau of Canada's home insurance committee and the Canadian Underwriting Committee. From 2005-2006, she was president of the Institut d'assurance de dommages du Québec (IADQ) and regional vice-president of the Insurance Institute of Canada. Ms. Fortin has taught property and casualty insurance for years and regularly gives conferences on the subject.
