All in a Day's WorkMy main duty is to work on the development of the corporate intranet. I work daily with staff to understand their needs and make their jobs easier by ensuring information circulates between departments and through company ranks. I spend another big part of my workday developing user-friendly Web applications that save time for employees and help with management of the company's material and human resources. My Time at SSQ General InsuranceI joined the ranks of SSQ General Insurance in 2001. I had an important job right from the start, developing its corporate intranet. The primary goal was to demonstrate that the intranet was an invaluable tool for both management and staff and could be used as a means of distributing information easily among the various departments. A few months into the job, I was brought onto the in-house phone system development team. There, I was mainly responsible for the upkeep of client and contact information. Before Joining SSQ General InsuranceMy first postsecondary diploma was in Pure and Applied Sciences from Quebec City's Champlain Regional College. I then went on to complete a second diploma in computer sciences at Cégep de Sainte-Foy. I chose this career mostly because ever since I was a little boy I've been really interested in new technology and the need to create useful tools. When I finished my computer studies, I spent nearly three years developing general insurance brokerage applications, then joined SSQ General Insurance as a developer. Why SSQ General Insurance? There are three main reasons I work for this company:
